Hotham buys $5.45m vineyard

WINEMAKER Hotham Valley has purchased a $5.4 million vineyard south-east of Margaret River township.

Following the acquisition of a 207 hectare Bridgeland Estate property, the winemaker aims to double its production to around 400 tonnes or 25,000 cases within two vintages.

The company was established in 1987 at Wandering where it has around twelve hectares of vines and a winery producing almost 200 tonnes a year. The new site has been prepared for ninety-seven hectares of vines.

A lakeside restaurant will be one of the features of the new property.

The company’s move to Margaret River follows winemakers such as BRL Hardy, Howard Park and Southcorp Wines in recognising the region as a prestigious address in international and national markets.
