MODEM-free access to the Internet and advanced office technologies will soon be available in many of Perth hotels.
NetPort Hospitality Systems is currently installing its NetPort-Connect product in three city hotels: The Chifley on the Terrace, Hyatt Regency Perth and The Sebel of Perth.
NetPort-Connect allows most laptop and notebook computers to connect to the Internet at a capped cost with a high speed 115Kb per second connection.
The product is being used by eleven hotels in Sydney and Brisbane and is being rolled out in Qantas Club lounges at airports in Australia and overseas.
The system provides Internet and intranet access for web browsing and email, free-to-air TV, pay TV, customised digital cinema, a laptop plug-in, intranet and Internet chat-line access, intranet and Internet games, Internet telephony, local and Internet radio, voicemail and facsimile.
Hotel management can also use HotelNet for back-office administration systems.
