HostWest to merge with national player

WESTERN Australia’s hospitality superannuation fund HostWest is merging its business with the national hospitality, tourism, recreation and leisure industry super fund Hostplus.

The merger, to take effect on March 31, will potentially add 30,000 employee members to its 500,000 plus member base and push assets under management close to $2.6 billion.

HostWest fund secretary and trustee director Bradley Woods said the decision to merge was based on what was best for members.

"The HostWest Trustee has been reviewing for some time how to expand the choices and features available for members, how to deliver consistent investment performance and how to maintain the security of members’ superannuation while continuing to keep fees low," he said.

Hostplus will be conducting employer and worksite seminars in WA from February to April.

It will also be providing "on-the-ground" service personnel in WA.
