Hofmann Engineering, Flanders in alliance

Bassendean business Hofmann Engineering has signed a memorandum with global engineering company Flanders to combine resources to produce electro-mechanical mining haul trucks.

The memorandum aligns the electrical and mechanical engineering expertise, capabilities and production facilities of each company, a joint statement said.

Hofmann Engineering’s head office is in Bassendean but the company has set up offices around Australia and internationally.

“We see ourselves as the supplier of choice for aftermarket mechanical and electrical solutions to the mining equipment market,” Hofmann Engineering managing director Erich Hofmann said.

Hofmann Engineering provides specialist engineered parts and services to mining, defense, transport, and energy industries, including large gear manufacturing, heavy machining, heat treatments, field services, specialist tools and equipment manufacture.

US-based Flanders specialises in design, engineering, production and service of electric rotating machinery across mining, mills and heavy industry.

The companies’ statement said the combined resources would provide customers with turnkey, electro-mechanical wheel motor solutions for their haul truck fleets.

“The [memorandum] initially serves as the platform to provide advanced aftermarket haul truck wheel motor solutions and enables future expansion into supplying repairs, rebuilds, and upgrades to other mobile mining equipment models or components,” it said.

Flanders chief executive John Oliver said the memorandum represented the start of a long-term and strong alliance.

“We are excited to team up our two renowned companies to offer world class products and services to the mining industry, supporting the pillars of safety, quality, reliability, productivity that drive total cost of ownership,” he said.

Flanders also has offices in Perth and Darra, Queensland.
