Hillcrest fund S. African litigation

West Perth based litigation funder Hillcrest Litigation Services Ltd will fund the National Potato Cooperative Ltd with almost $1.2 million to pursue a claim against PricewaterhouseCoopers, in the High Court of South Africa.

The NPC's claim totals over $73 million, as a result of a breach of contract.

The trial, which commenced in October 2005 ran for 110 days until November 2006, but was halted when the defendant made an application that the NPC provide security for the defendants' costs in the proceeding, totalling $1.165 million.

This application was successful and now with the financial backing, the NPC's attorneys will make an application for the trial to resume.
