High profile idea for WA tourism

WITH WA’s international tourism numbers failing to grow significantly, WA’s shadow tourism minister Katie Hodson-Thomas has put forward a proposal that harks back to the heyday of the ‘Elle’ campaign. The minister has called on the Carpenter government to engage some high-profile talent, of the likes of Jennifer Hawkins or Megan Gale, to promote tourism to our state. She said the ‘red hot’ appeal of Ms Hawkins and international profile of Ms Gale would help to promote Western Australia as an attractive destination for overseas tourists. Mind you, if the less-than-impressive performance of the federal ‘Where the bloody hell are you?’ campaign is anything to go by, taxpayers’ dollars may be better spent elsewhere.
