RESONANCE Health’s wholly owned subsidiary, Resonance Health Analysis Services, has been awarded a WA Department of Health supply contract. The Perth-based healthcare company will supply its FerriScan technology throughout the public hospital system. The first centre to offer FerriScan as part of the contract is within Fremantle Hospital. RHAS is the only producer of the method for non-invasive measurement of liver iron concentration. It was awarded the supply contract without the contract being put out to tender. It is estimated that one in every 200 Australians has the genetic defect, called haemochromatosis, which causes the iron overload condition. A FerriScan involves a magnetic resonance imaging scan followed by off-site processing of the images by RHAS using its patented method of generating the liver iron concentration result.
