Perth-based online health directory and booking service HealthEngine has reached a new milestone, with the company making its one millionth online booking through its application.

The milestone reaffirms HealthEngine’s position as Australia’s largest online GP booking system, averaging a new appointment booking every 20 seconds, compared with every two-and-a-half hours in 2012 (when it booked 4,000 in total throughout the year).

Chief executive Marcus Tan said the company would continue to innovate its services to further accommodate its expanding user base.

“E-health is an innovative and fast-moving space that is constantly growing, with new players entering the market,” Dr Tan said.

“Our roots as a health directory combined with its simple and efficient service allowing patients to secure their appointments makes it an invaluable resource.

“It helps consumers navigate a cluttered health space in a timely and easy fashion.”

The app allows a patient to book an urgent appointment with their preferred GP, dentist or healthcare professional, or find the nearest available from their current location.

HealthEngine was a 2014 Business News Rising Stars winner, and is ranked #57 in the BNiQ Startups list.
