Hartleys, Argonaut among winners at new awards

Hartleys, Argonaut Securities and Amscot Stockbroking have been honoured as Perth’s top broking and advisory firms at the inaugural Western Australian Capital Markets Awards.

Hartleys was recognised as Corporate Desk of the Year, after raising over $400 million in transactions as well as advising on $300 million of merger and acquisition deals.

Trading Desk of the Year was awarded to Argonaut, the Australiasian Securities Dealers Association’s Jamie Coote said.

“The productivity of their brokers is far ahead of most offices in not only Perth, but Australia wide, and on this basis, Argonaut’s efficiency has seen it continue to perform through tough market conditions,” Mr Coote said.

Capital Investment Partners took out the Corporate Transaction of the Year, for advising Wah Nam on its takeover of Brockman Resources, which was worth over $800 million.

Amscot was named innovator of the year for its development of online broking platforms.

Amscot’s Alan Hill was presented with a Fellow of the Securities Industry for his 30 years’ contribution to the sector.

The winners were judged over the course of the 2011-12 financial year by the ASDA’s Mr Coote and Chris Oldfield, Senator Mathias Corrmann, and Professional Public Relations’ David Tasker.
