Perth-based exploration company MOD Resources has appointed former managing director of nickel miner Western Areas Julian Hanna as a non-executive director and technical consultant.
A geologist with over 35 years’ experience, including 15 years in senior management roles, Mr Hanna will provide technical and managerial expertise to help advance the Sams Creek gold project.
Sams Creek is New Zealand’s largest undeveloped gold project with a JORC-compliant resource containing 1.024Moz of gold.
MOD is currently amid advanced negotiations to divest its other major asset, the Botswana copper project in southern Africa, in order to enable the company to focus on Sams Creek.
The company also announced today that its managing director since August 2011, Derek Byrne, has resigned from the board to pursue other opportunities.
Mr Byrne’s past experience is primarily working with African mining projects.
