Green energy from Global Renewables

RESOURCE contracting and development company GRD has announced the commencement of green energy production at its half-owned subsidiary Global Renewables Eastern Creek UR-3R facility in Sydney. Electricity from biogas generated by the processing municipal solid waste is now meeting more than 75 per cent of the facility’s power needs, GRD said. Full power production is expected in the third quarter as waste throughput and biogas production continues to increase to full capacity. The plant was completed in September last year at a cost of $70 million.
