Grass is greener for Chettleburg

GRANT Chettleburg didn’t know what sort of job he wanted after leaving school but soon made a name for himself in the horticulture industry.

After landing a job through a family friend as a landscaper, he uncovered a passion for working outdoors using his hands.

In 1995, Mr Chettleburg gained a job as an apprentice greenkeeper at Sun City Country Club.

Since then, he has won a swag of awards including South Metropolitan TAFE’s Apprentice of the Year award after the completion of his turf management apprenticeship in 1998.

This year, he won the Westrac Equipment Appren-tice of the Year category at the Training Excellence Awards and the Turf Industry’s Apprentice of the Year Awards.

Mr Chettleburg was promoted to second-in-charge at Sun City Country Club in 1998 and took over the position of golf course superintendent six months ago.
