Grape work, people

IT was good to see some Labor stalwarts of old putting a few backpackers out of business. According to the latest missive from Brian Ede and Anne Walsh’s Hillbrook winery at Quinninup, Peter and Rosalie Walsh, Julian (pictured) and Lesley Grill as well as Mark Nevill were toiling to pick whatever merlot could be salvaged from this horrific season. The Note couldn’t help thinking their skills could have been better used, and hopes that the appropriate wages were paid. Otherwise Labor’s Stephen Smith might be heading south for another IR exposé.
