Government urges EMDG submissions
The Federal Government is urging businesses that received grants under the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme and any other interested parties to make submissions to an upcoming review of the scheme.
The scheme, administered by Austrade, helps small and medium enterprises commence and develop exporting by reimbursing up to half of eligible promotional costs above a threshold amount.
The EMDG Act provides that last grants paid under the current scheme will be made in 2006-07.
Trade Minister Mark Vaile last week announced a review of the EMDG scheme in accordance with legislation.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for the business community ... to make their views about EMDG known and to suggest improvements to the scheme,” Mr Vaile said.
He said after the submissions were collated Austrade would review the scheme, making recommendations about its continuation
