THE Master Cleaners Guild has branded the Western Australian Government’s move of taking cleaning services at Government hospitals and the Disability Services Commission back in-house as a costly failure.
The guild claims the cost of in-sourcing cleaning services at Fremantle Hospital cost an extra $316,000 in the first year, Disability services faced a $1.6 million higher cost over a four-year term and that Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital was up for an extra $1.8 million over four years.
Master Cleaners Guild executive director Ian Westoby said the documents obtained under Freedom of Information showed, at Fremantle Hospital, that neither a public interest test, an independent financial evaluation nor a value for money evaluation had been done.
