Golden Gecko winners

Golden Gecko for Environmental Excellence winners received their awards and certificates from State Development Minister Clive Brown last week. And, from 13 nominations, the winners for the Golden Gecko Award for Environmental Excellence were WA Museum/ Woodside Energy who won the Golden Gecko Award for a strategic research project to collect and set up a database of marine environment information from the Dampier Archipelago, and Homestake Gold of Australia for a comprehensive simultaneous mine closure strategy including planning, audits, accruals, reclam-ation and monitoring.

Golden Gecko Certificates of Merit for Environmental Excellence were awarded to Victor Dale for the innovative and proactive rehab-ilitation of a sand mining operation, using limited resources, and Homestake Plutonic Gold for whole-of-site environmental management of a mining operation.
