Nine companies and one individual from Western Australia’s resources sector have nominated for the prestigious 2005 Golden Gecko Awards for Environmental Excellence, facilitated by the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR).
Allight, Alcoa World Alumina, Arc Energy, BHP Billiton with URS Australia, Boral Resources, BP Refinery Kwinana, Wesfarmers Premier Coal, Woodside Energy, WMC Resources and Patricia Fitzgerald, who was nominated by WorleyParsons, have all been nominated for this year’s awards.
Dr Limerick said companies across the state’s resources sector should feel very proud that a characteristic of the industry in WA was the adoption of world-class environmental practices. The Golden Gecko Awards have been promoting this for 14 years.
Golden Gecko Award or Certificate of Merit recipients will be announced at a presentation function in September.
