Gold Sector

The Australian gold sector also remains significantly undervalued relative to A$ gold prices of around A$470-$480 per oz. A$ gold prices has averaged around A$499 per oz over the past 16 years while the gold index has averaged 1500 points. The gold index which is currently near 15 year lows is unjustified given current high A$ gold prices. Chart 3 below shows the Gold Index Vs the A$ gold price over the past 16 years.
