Give science a sporting chance

IT has been interesting to see how the world’s biggest sporting event, the Olympic Games has highlighted the deficiencies in our support of science.

Debate has raged since Australia’s fourth placing among the medal count proved that if you put the resources behind something you can achieve miraculous results.

Scientists have pointed out that given the same incentives they could win far more important races than anything that occurred in Sydney during September.

The World Wide Work report which Business News has covered in this edition is just one of dozens of documents warning us that now is the time to embrace the opportunities provided by technology and globalisation.
