JOHN Gilmour QC has been appointed as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia. Admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Perth in 1976 and having practiced exclusively as a barrister since 1989, Mr Gilmour will remain in Perth in his new post, to commence on December 11. He will replace Justice Malcolm Lee, who retired earlier in the year. Mr Gilmour has practiced primarily in commercial law and has experience in both federal and state courts and tribunals, including the High Court. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 1994.
