Georgiou Group has secured $141 million worth of contracts across Australia in recent days, announcing it had been awarded major contracts in NSW and Queensland just one day after being named the preferred proponent for the City of Perth’s east end revitalisation project.

That project, worth $10 million, will consist of upgrades to Hay Street, Pier Street and Irwin Street as well as the construction of new plaza and installation of public artwork, with work to start next month.

City of Perth chair commissioner Andrew Hammond said despite unprecedented economic conditions, awarding the contract now would help maintain jobs and boost the local economy.

“We know our community is suffering economically and socially," he said.

"We are going to do our very best to help as much as we can and it is very important the city maintains and, where it can, accelerate construction activities through this very difficult period.”

The City of Perth's announcement came as Georgiou Group said it had secured two major contracts in the eastern states, including $94 million worth of civil and infrastructure works with logistics company QUBE Holdings in NSW, and a $37 million contract to undertake walkway refurbishments for the Brisbane City Council.

As part of its work with QUBE, Georgiou will deliver civil and infrastructure works for its Moorebank Logistics Park West project, which is located in the Sydney suburb of Port Botany.

That project has now commenced and is set to be completed by April 2021.

Georgiou chief executive Rob Monaci said being awarded the project was indicative of the company’s growth on the east coast.

“Having delivered large freight terminal projects across Western Australia and Queensland, our experienced team looks forward to building on this capability in NSW,” he said.

“QUBE is a new client for Georgiou Group so this project will allow us to not only demonstrate our expertise but build on our reputation of being the best people to work with.”

In Queensland, Georgiou will partner with Brady Marine and Civil to complete the $37 million Indooroopilly Riverwalk project for Brisbane City Council.

Georgiou Group has previously entered into several joint ventures with Brady Marine and Civil, including for construction of the Gold Coast’s green bridge pedestrian walkway, completed late last year.

The Indooroopilly Riverwalk project has now commenced and is set to be completed by June 2021.

Mr Monaci said the project would help solidify the group’s standing in Queensland.

“We have a very experienced team on the project and being right in our sweet spot, look forward to delivering this vital piece of infrastructure for the council,” he said.

Georgiou Group currently holds $263 million worth of projects in WA.
