Georgiou Group and its indigenous partner, Gumala Enterprises, have won a $37 million construction contract with Rio Tinto.
Under the contract announced today, the joint venture will construct a tailings storage facility at Pannawonica for the mining giant’s iron ore division.
The deal follows the successful delivery of a similar tailings storage facility and rail sidings project at Pannawonica for Rio, which was worth $40 million.
Georgiou chief executive John Georgiou said the company was pleased to have built on a partnership that was first established in 2010.
“Gumala and Georgiou successfully completed the TSF3 project in June 2012, under budget and injury free,” Mr Georgiou said.
“We will continue to demonstrate that we can deliver excellent projects for our clients.”
