Georgiou Group has been appointed head contractor for Brightwater Care Group’s $40 million Inglewood complex, featuring an aged care facility, a research centre and a corporate head office.
Brightwater is one of Western Australia’s largest not-for-profit residential aged and disability care providers, with more than 23 facilities across the state.
The group manages 740 aged care places and is ranked ninth spot on the Business News Data & Insights aged care providers list (determined by number of aged care beds).
Plans for the Inglewood project, located on Walter Road West, were temporarily shelved earlier this year as part of the group’s pandemic response.
Construction is expected to start on the $40 million development in early 2021, with completion anticipated for mid-2022 and plans to feature 128 aged care beds, based on a small house model of care.
Brightwater chief executive Jennifer Lawrence said the development would demonstrate the group’s ongoing commitment to innovation.
“We are exceptionally proud of this development as it brings together our 100 plus years of experience caring for people in the WA community,” she said.
“Brightwater Inglewood has been designed to be a vibrant, inter-generational and inclusive campus with shared community engagement spaces, for staff, clients, family and visitors to interact and socialise.”
Georgiou Group chief executive Rob Monaci said the company was proud to add the project to its building portfolio for the coming year, with other active projects including being named preferred proponents to extend Mitchell Freeway.
“Together with our colleagues at Georgiou Developments, we have worked very closely with Brightwater and the design team in an early contractor involvement model, to help determine the best design solutions to meet our client’s functional and operational needs,” he said.
