Former Western Bulldogs chief executive Simon Garlick will replace Steve Rosich as chief executive of the Fremantle Dockers.

Mr Garlick led the Western Bulldogs from 2010 to 2015 and is currently chief executive of Bastion EBA, which is a division of marketing agency Bastion Collective.

He was also a professional AFL player, taking part in 181 games for Sydney and the Western Bulldogs between 1994 and 2004.

Mr Garlick takes the top job from Steve Rosich, who was the club’s CEO from 2008 until August this year, when he and coach Ross Lyon were sacked.

Mr Garlick said the club had great potential.

“While the Fremantle Football Club has a relatively short history in the AFL, the region is one of the richest football areas in Australia and the club’s supporter base is as significant as it is passionate,” he said.

“I have been fortunate to have had a life in football along with some incredible broader experience.”

Fremantle president Dale Alcock said Mr Garlick was a highly credentialled administrator with great AFL knowledge and strong business acumen.

“Simon is a talented administrator with great values who will bring to the club a formidable combination of strong business acumen and extensive knowledge of the AFL industry,” he said.

“Workplace culture and values are also very important to him and he will be a significant driver of that at Fremantle.”
