A Perth-based engineering firm with more than 200 major design and construction projects in over 33 countries has won this year's major prize at the WA Industry and Export Awards.
Premier Alan Carpenter awarded GRD Minproc Limited the Premier's Award for Excellence at the official awards ceremony held at the Hyatt Hotel on Friday.
"GDR Minproc Limited is a great example of an innovative local company successfully contributing to Western Australia's economy," Mr Carpenter said.
"The company has shown an outstanding ability to seek new markets, not only within Australia, but internationally."
With its head office in Perth, GRD Minproc Limited has undertaken projects across Australia, including Queensland, and worldwide in places such as Africa and Brazil.
Specialising in the design, procurement and construction of mineral resource and waste-to-resources projects, the company also won the the C.Y.O'Connor Award for Excellence in Engineering.
The awards, now in their 19th year, are firmly established as the State's most prestigious business awards.
The Premier said the awards provided an opportunity to promote the success of WA companies both at home and overseas.
"The awards are a great opportunity to showcase local companies opening their doors to new markets," he said.
"They also reflect the importance of exports to the economic development of WA, particularly as WA accounts for 36 per cent of the nation's total export earnings."
The WA Industry and Export Awards feature 15 categories, as well as the Premier's Award for Excellence.
All the State's export category winners automatically compete as finalists in the Australian Export Awards to be held in Brisbane in November.
