GL1 moves on Manna lithium studies

Mineral Resources-backed junior Global Lithium Resources has recruited local engineer Wave International to lead a definitive feasibility study for its flagship lithium project.

The Perth-based firm is set to deliver a definitive feasibility study for Global Lithium’s (GL1) Manna project situated about 100 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie at the end of 2023.

The study will seek to deliver a capital and operating cost estimate within a range of 10 per cent to 15 per cent to develop a mine at the site.

GL1 paid $33 million for an 80 per cent stake in Manna back in 2021, adding a second project to the company’s exploration portfolio alongside the Marble Bar deposit in the Pilbara.

It bought the remaining stake in Manna from Breaker Resources for $60 million in October 2022 to take full control of the project. 

Global Lithium project director Tony Chamberlain said the company had been working with Wave closely in the lead up to starting a definitive feasibility study for Manna, with the company currently managing a metallurgical testwork program.

“With their team’s collective experience within the lithium space, they offer an unrivalled advantage within our industry to assist us with progressing Manna and we are pleased to widen their appointment to include lead engineer for the DFS.”

A final investment decision for the project, which has an estimated 32.7 million tonne mineral resource at 1 per cent lithium oxide, has been targeted in CY2024.

GL1’s major shareholders include Mineral Resources, which owns about a 10 per cent stake in the company.

Shares in Global Lithium were up 7.2 per cent to trade at $1.12.
