THE $3.5 million refurbishment of the Commodore Hotel, located on the corner of Hay and Victoria streets, is well under way and due for completion in November. The renovation is aimed at improving standards to upgrade business, and 106 guestrooms have been completed, with 13 executive suites expected to be finished by September. Singapore-based All-in Corporation bought the Commodore Hotel in February 2004 for $6.5 million.A substantial part of the upgrade involves the construction of a new restaurant as part of the hotel – the Commodore Bar and Grill. It is hoped the upgrade of the conference facility and business centre, with meeting capacity for 300 people, will encourage business from the corporate market.Refurbishment work is being co-ordinated by Tony Pallotta of Hotel Rescue and Design, who most recently completed Perth’s Melbourne Hotel upgrade. The Commodore will be a four-star hotel upon completion of the refurbishment.
