A NEW depot capable of storing 1000 containers has been built by Maersk Sealand at North Fremantle.
The site is expected to handle 30,000 containers a year and also will provide the capacity for repairs and maintenance.
The depot, to be operated by Baguley Containers, is the first built at Fremantle to handle containers from one shipping line, those in the AP Mollor Group.
Fremantle container traffic increased 18 per cent last year and has grown 193 per cent during the past decade.
