Former Westrac CEO joins Macmahon

Former Westrac chief executive Jim Walker has been appointed to the board of Macmahon Holdings as a non-executive director.

Mr Walker served as chief executive of Seven Group Holdings subsidiary Westrac for 13 years before retiring in August this year, bringing to an end a career with the company that spanned 24 years.

"Jim is well known for his leadership within the industry and I am delighted to be welcoming someone of Jim's calibre and experience to the board," Macmahon chairman Ken Scott-Mackenzie said.

Mr Walker has served in the resources sector for more than 40 years and has held directorships at companies including National Hire Group and Coates Group Holdings.

He was described earlier this year by Seven Group Holdings' executive chairman Kerry Stokes as "a legend of the industry" who made an extraordinary contribution to the company.

Mr Walker's appointment follows the planned retirement of David Smith, who will retire prior to Macmahon's upcoming annual general meeting.
