Perth-based Incremental Petroleum Ltd has recruited the services of former New South Wales senator Sandy Macdonald who will join the board as non-executive director.

Incremental Petroleum today announced that the Honourable Sandy Macdonald has joined the Company as a non-executive Director.

Mr Macdonald served as a Senator for NSW in the Commonwealth Government from 1993 until his recent retirement on 30 June 2008. Mr Macdonald holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney.

During the Howard government Mr Macdonald served in a ministerial capacity, firstly as Parliamentary Secretary for Trade (2005-2006) and then as Parliamentary Secretary for Defence (2006-2007).

During his distinguished parliamentary career, Mr Macdonald also served as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee and for 8 years as Chairman of the Australia Turkey Parliamentary Group.

Mr Macdonald has recently been appointed by the Rudd government to the Board of Defence Housing Australia Limited.

Mr Macdonald said he "was very pleased to accept the position with Incremental which has impressive management and prospects, and is an Australian company competing successfully in the world energy sector."

Commenting on the appointment, Incremental's Chairman Chris Cronin said that the Board was delighted that a person of Mr Macdonald's standing and experience had agreed to join the Company.

Mr Cronin said "Sandy's parliamentary experience was very broad but with his particular focus on trade, resources and international affairs his experience will be invaluable in helping to guide the Company's growth plans in multiple international jurisdictions."
