Former Liberal Party and independent politician Philip Pendal has died at the age of 61, from a suspected heart attack.

Former Liberal Party and independent politician Philip Pendal has died at the age of 61, from a suspected heart attack.

Mr Pendal was a member of state parliament for 25 years up to his retirement in 2005.

For most of that time he was the member for South Perth.

In 1994 he resigned from the Liberal Party after being overlooked for a ministerial position.
