Western Australian firm Forge Group has been awarded a contract to design and construct a zinc-lead-silver concentrator and associated plant facilities at MMG’s Dugald River project in Queensland.

The engineering, procurement and construction contract is scheduled to commence in February 2014 and to be completed by June 2015.

"The contract win is a result of our technical expertise in base metal concentrators and the group’s ability to work with clients offering a diversified service solution,” Forge Group managing director and CEO David Simpson said.

The contract would further strengthen the group’s east coast presence and extend its geographic diversification in providing services to the resources sector, he added.

At its peak, the construction is set to employ 250 people.

MMG describes the Dugald River project as “one of the world’s largest and highest grade known undeveloped lead-zinc-silver deposits” and predicts the mine to have a 20-year life.
