Canning Vale has emerged as the preferred suburb among first home buyers in the September quarter, as the median house price for first time buyers edged up to $380,000.
New figures from the Department of Treasury and Finance regarding the first home owners grant showed 183 applications were made by first time buyers for property in Canning Vale, followed by Baldivis with 157 applications and then Ellenbrook with 116.
Butler (101) and Aubin Grove (85) rounded up the top five.
Overall, the state government received 7,596 applications from buyers seeking the first home owners grant during the September quarter, with 4,341 applications received for established homes and 3,255 for new dwellings.
The government granted 6,415 applications during the period.
Meantime median price for established dwellings climbed from $382,750 in August to $395,000 in the metropolitan area while in the regions, the median price crept from $310,000 to $317,000.
Taking both areas into account, the median house price rose from $374,000 to $380,000.
The federal government is currently winding back its first home owner's boost, with analysts saying the property sector should expect trade up buyers to start coming into the market.
