Operations at Doray Minerals’ Deflector gold-copper mine in the Murchison region have been halted after a fire broke out at the site early this morning.

In a statement to the ASX, Doray said the fire started at about 12.10am and involved an underground loader.

The company said there were no injuries and the extent and cause of the blaze were being investigated.

“In line with the company’s standard safety procedure, at the time of the fire 11 underground workers moved to their closest emergency refuge chamber before being escorted out of the mine by the site emergency response team,” Doray said.

First gold production from Deflector occurred in May 2016.

Shares in Doray finished up 4.48 per cent today.
