LUXURY fashion label Emporio Armani will soon join other high-end retailers at the new Wesley Quarter redevelopment, as the first of the centre’s retailers open their doors. Stage one of the $150 million redevelopment of the Wesley Centre site has been completed and boutiques including Alannah Hill, Metalicus, Review, Jan Logan, Wittner Shoes and Eyedonist have opened their doors, along with electronics retailer Dick Smith. A second wave of retailers will open for business in April, with a further 1,842 square metres of space expected to come online. Rio Tinto subsidiary Hamersley Iron is scheduled to move into the newly refurbished nine-floor Wesley Tower this month. The Wesley Centre joins enex100, formerly known as Century City, as the newest CBD retail developments. Currently home to retailers Hardy Brothers Jewellery, Guess, Veronika Maine, Mimco and Witchery, enex100 will feature three levels of retail space. The first stage of the centre opened in late December, with the remainder of the complex scheduled to open in June 2009 including Woolworths, JB HiFi and a number of other fashion retailers. The two retail developments, together with 140 William and Raine Square projects, are expected to add more than 40,000sqm of new retail space in the Perth CBD by 2010
