The peak farming and accountancy bodies have joined forces to help farmers make the transition to the GST.
The National Farmers’ Federation and the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants have launched a free guide to the GST titled The Farmers’ ABC of GST.
“For some farmers, the advice in this booklet could save thousands of dollars by making the right decisions at the right time,” ASCPA tax director Angela Ryan said.
The information booklet is available from the ASCPA’s Internet site at http://www.cpaonline.com.au or from either organisation.
“One of the major problems that farmers have with the GST is finding credible information that explains exactly what they need to do to be ready for the GST,” Ms Ryan said.
“The Farmers’ ABC of GST will clear up much of the confusion and alert them to the need to plan properly for the introduction of the new tax.”
