Family the focal point of Sealanes’ business

WA ship supplier and food service company Sealanes has been named Family Business Australia’s “Third generation family business of the year” at a ceremony in Melbourne last Saturday.

A contingent of WA family businesses, including Homestyle Vegetable Processors, Geographe Enterprises and Kakulas Bros, entered the national awards after winning their various State categories in WA awards, which were announced in July.

The Family Business Awards recognise the efforts and contributions made by large and small family-owned and operated businesses throughout Australia.

Accepting the award, Sealanes director Mark Paino said the Family Business Australia honour was the end result of the hard work many family members had put into the successful enterprise during the past 75 years.

“This award is testament to the part played by three generations of the Paino family in the development of a business that continues to grow and prosper under family manage-ment,” Mr Paino said.

Sealanes employs 220 people across Australia and the Pacific.

Their activities encompass total food service, ship supply, cruise and navy supply, offshore petroleum industry support, overseas export and retail fish supply.
