Local company FIRM Construction has won a $15.1 million contract for work on the second stage of Joseph Banks Secondary College in Banksia Grove.

Following completion of first stage of the project, which was built by PACT Construction, Joseph Banks opened its doors to 417 year seven and eight students last year.

The $22.2 million second stage of the college involves construction of an arts learning facility, a tiered auditorium, hockey and soccer fields, and a year nine community and learning space.

Stage 2 will also incorporate a dedicated senior facility with a school community area, along with English and languages other than English (LOTE) facilities.

With completion of the second stage expected by the start of the 2018 school year, Joseph Banks will cater for 1,450 students from years seven to 12.

The school is situated within Perth’s largest northern suburbs growth corridor less than 10 minutes from St Stephen's School.
