THE 2004 Australian Export Awards were launched in Melbourne
last week.
The awards recognise achievers in 11 industry categories and
two special award categories – the special achievement award, and the DHL
Australian exporter of the year.
WA-company Mt Romance, which caught the interest of
international perfume houses and introduced a new industry to a regional
township, was one of last year’s category winners.
QBE Insurance was the DHL Australian exporter of the year.
At the launch, Federal Trade Minister Mark Vaile said the
awards helped raise the profile of Australian business capability and paved the
way for other local companies to trade internationally.
To enter the national awards, local companies must first
enter the WA awards, entries for which opened recently.
State winners become finalists in the national awards to be
held in December 2004.
