FORMER Western Australian corruption fighter Moira Rayner was last week cleared of perverting the course of justice by informing a dying friend his phone was probably bugged by the CCC. Ms Rayner, 58, went on trial in the WA District Court last week charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice in August, 2005, while an acting commissioner for the Corruption and Crime Commission. Cazaly ups the ante on Rio Tinto CAZALY Resources Ltd has upped its battle with Rio Tinto Ltd over the disputed Shovelanna iron ore tenement by serving subpoenas on Western Australian premier Alan Carpenter and resources minister John Bowler. Cazaly has subpoenaed the ministers to testify at a Supreme Court hearing beginning March 19. It is understood Cazaly wants to question the premier about a meeting he had with Rio Tinto executive director Leigh Clifford in London last December.
