Event Australia’s biggest

Perth-based Mining 2000, has developed what is rated as the biggest international convention and trade exhibition ever held in the country for the Australian mining industry.

The event, which is based on the successful Canadian Prospectors & Developers Association conference in Toronto, will be held at Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre in September.

The theme of the conference is Investing in Australia – Australia’s Mining Future.Mining 2000 managing director Stewart McDonald told Business News that 2,000 delegates are expected to attend.

The mining, minerals and sustainable development project, an independent process of participatory analysis with the objective of identifying how mining and minerals can best contribute to the global transition to sustainable development, and e-commerce procurement are two key issues which will be discussed during the conference.

A key product of the MMSD project will be a report which will be presented during the proposed Earth Summit in 2002.
