Ethanol fuel debate: HIGHER oil prices have prompted the Federal Government to consider creating an ethanol-petrol blended fuel market. Nationals MP De-Anne Kelly has supported a market where oil companies could meet targets of fuel comprising 5 per cent or 10 per cent ethanol in viable markets. Ethanol blended fuel is already used widely in the US, Canada, Sweden and Brazil. So far this month the price of unleaded fuel has averaged 130.4 cents a litre in the Perth metropolitan area.
