THE Esplanade Hotel Fremantle has announced plans to substantially expand its convention and accommodation facilities.
At an estimated cost of $12 million, the upgrade will increase the ground floor convention centre from 383 square meters to 1,300sq m. The design includes a pre-function area and up to four new meeting rooms. The main room will be able to cater to 1,000 people in theatre style or 600 for a sit-down banquet. The upgrade will add a further 41 guest rooms to the existing 259 rooms.
Oldfield Knott Architects has designed the heritage-style plans. The project is due for completion in September next year and Esplanade Hotel Fremantle proprietor and managing director Marylyn New said the hotel would be able to capitalise on forecasted meetings growth.
