Escape from work

LUNCHTIME on Monday is the most popular time of the day to browse online for potential travel escapes, according to the latest figures released by the Western Australian Tourism Commission.

Whether it’s the travel banter over the weekend or the impacts of ‘Mondayitis’, it is evident that traffic to the WATC’s winter breaks promotion web site, peaks between noon and 2pm on Mondays.

The site was launched in May and 20,000 people have accessed holiday information, which makes WATC’s winter breaks promotion one of the industry’s most successful intrastate marketing exercises, according to WATC executive director Rick Thomas.

He said booking statistics over recent years indicated that the winter breaks campaign was worth more than $3 million annually to the local tourism industry.
