Sitech WA has announced the acquisition of Versatech Engineering Solutions for an undisclosed sum, adding to its range of specialist equipment for the heavy machinery and construction sector.

Sitech, which is 50 per cent owned in Western Australia by WesTrac, is making the acquisition as part of a plan to further the company’s reach in the civil, mining, agriculture and forestry sectors.

The other 50 per cent is owned by the Sitech global holding company.

Versatech is a long-standing WA dealer in Trimble Loadrite electronic weighing products, including loader, excavator and conveyor belt scales and tyre monitoring products.

Versatech currently employs four qualified staff who will be joining Sitech WA.

Founded in Kalgoorlie as a labour hire firm in 1992, Versatech acquired the WA distributorship for Loadrite in 1994, and moved to Perth in 2004.

Managing director Roger Trump said the transaction was driven by a desire to look to a new market.

“We recognise that the business needs the enthusiasm and experience of a new management team to take it to the next level and we wish to focus on the Northern Territory side of the business while leaving the Western Australian distributorship in safe hands so the legacy we created can continue,” he said.

“We believe Sitech WA – being the fully dedicated global distributor for Trimble products in Western Australia - are the right company and have the right team to be able to achieve this.”

Sitech is expected to employ around two dozen staff upon completion of the acquisition.
