On Wednesday September 8 the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, in conjunction with the University of Western Australia, will hold Locating Niche Markets in a Global Environment with guest speaker Coogee Chemicals chairman Gordon Martin.
The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency as part of CEDA’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Series.
Mr Martin, who has spent more than 35 years in the chemical industry, including 25 years as managing director of Coogee Chemicals, will speak about the growth of the company from its beginnings as a small Western Australian company to its presence as a strong diversified manufacturer of inorganic chemicals in Australia and Malaysia.
Now boasting assets in excess of $160m and a turnover in the vicinity of $200m the company owns and operates shore side tank terminals at Kwinana, Port Hedland and Townsville for the import and distribution of bulk liquid chemicals.
Mr Martin will speak about his experience in the Venture Capital sector, and time spent as one of the founding members of Foundation Capital Ltd.
This event is part of the University of Western Australia’s series of six events looking at UWA graduates who have become national and international entrepreneurs of note.
