Enerji plans full-scale Pilbara project

Clean power company Enerji has announced it plans to develop a full-scale waste heat-to-power plant in the Pilbara following the completion last year of a pilot plant in Carnarvon. 

Enerji said it would redeploy key components from the $5.5 million Carnarvon pilot plant and employ a fully modular configuration at the new plant, substantially reducing building costs.

The company said it had made new advances which would allow it to improve output at the new plant, and to reduce costs and time.

The cost savings meant the incremental capital budget for the project would be substantially reduced and budgeted revenue would exceed management targets, the company said.

Enerji's clean power technology transforms waste heat into electricity, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and potentially creating significant cost savings.

The company produced electricity at its Carnarvon pilot plant for the first time in July last year.

Enerji is hopeful a potential domestic gas supply shortage in the coming years will work in its favour, claiming its technology will help mitigate these risks.

"I believe that we are at a tipping point for the rapid take-up of technologies like that offered by Enerji to save money now and reduce these huge risks going forward," Enerji chief executive Colin Stonehouse said. 

Enerji plans to launch an underwritten entitlements offer within the coming weeks and will also commence a roadshow to promote the project to investors.

The company has been in discussions with banks and plans to fund the capital cost of the Pilbara project with debt backed by existing assets.
