Perth-based IT services provider Empired has secured an agreement to provide managed services to Toyota Australia.

Under the contract, Empired will provide managed and project services to Toyota’s core Microsoft customer-facing platforms including Mail, Sharepoint and Lync.

“The contract transforms our engagement with Toyota from a niche project-based arrangement to a broader annuity-based contracted services arrangement at a substantially increased value,” Empired said in a statement.

Managing director Russell Baskerville attributed the contract win to the acquisition of Melbourne-headquartered OBS, which Empired bought for $15 million in October 2013.

“Toyota presents a great opportunity to Empired; they have expansive IT operations in Australia and we are committed to delivering exceptional services to them under this contract,” Mr Baskerville said.

“I am confident that Toyota will benefit from the mature operating model and business services focus that we have mutually committed to under this contract.

The services are scheduled to begin in April.

Empired shares closed 4 per cent higher at 77 cents per share.
