Empire tackles Perth permits

Empire Oil Company (WA) Limited has been granted two petroleum exploration permits in the Perth Basin, one of which includes a section of the Perth metropolitan area.

Permits EP415 and EP416 cover some areas of the proposed State forest and conservation reserves.

WA Mines Minister Norman Moore said although the permits cover a considerable area, the nature of the exploration is such that the greater area of the permits would not be subject to field operations at all, and are subject to assessment by the Environmental Protection Authority.
