EMPIRE Oil and Gas has settled Native Title issues regarding four applications for petroleum permits located in the Perth Basin.
The settlement of these issues is a legal requirement prior to the Western Australian Government formally granting the permits.
However, there is an outstanding Native Title claim over part of one of the permit areas.
The company is seeking final settlement but has conceded that, if one cannot be negotiated, it will surrender several blocks in the application to allow formal granting of the permit to proceed.
The four permits are located in the north Perth Basin near recent and historic oil and gas fields.
Empire has no other Native Title issues in the Perth Basin and holds seven permit areas totalling 20,000 square kilometres.
It will have full equity on the four permits on grant.
The Perth Basin is one of the most prospective onshore basins in Australia.
